Highway Worker Hit By Vehicle In I-84 Construction Zone

A Department of Transportation worker was injured after being hit by a vehicle that also slammed into two DOT work trucks at a construction zone on I-84 in Patterson.

The incident took place around 9:40 a.m., Thursday, July 11, on I-84 near mile marker 63.3, in Patterson, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.

According to Hicks, an unidentified driver hit the two trucks in a construction zone and then hit the worker who able to avoid serious injury by taking evasive measures.

The worker received non-life-threatening injuries, he added.

The right lane of I-84 is closed for construction and is expected to remain closed until the work is completed, state police said.

Motorists are asked to use caution in the area.
